Millburn District 24 Education Foundation
A Letter from the President
August 2010
As the new school year begins, the Board of Education and the district administration has been communicating with parents about the fiscal outlook of District 24 and the impact it will have on school funding. Budget reductions, referendums and other cost saving measures are being pursued. Looking forward, it is important we continue to support the fundraising initiatives by both the Foundation and the PTO’s.
The Millburn District 24 Education Foundation entering its fifth year. We have worked diligently to build an organization committed to enriching the learning experience of our children by enhancing the district’s resources through community involvement. During the last four years, the foundation has raised close to $180,000 through events such as March Madness and the Annual Millburn Education Foundation Golf outing. We have also been fortunate enough to receive donations directly from the community and are planning a direct community campaign later this year. Almost $160,000 has been granted back to the district to support and subsidize programs like college scholarships, Camp Timberlee, Library programs, Fine Arts programs and the 8th grade Springfield trip.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, contributions to the Foundation may be tax deductible. Remember, all funds raised are used to support the programs listed above, and to support the creativity of the faculty in bring a first class education to our children. Please visit the Foundation’s website www.MEF24.org for more details on the programs supported over the past four years and for opportunities to support our efforts.
Please feel free to contact any of the board members with questions or comments, and thank you for any support you are able to offer the Foundation.
